Three Great Reasons to buy the new Apple iPod Touch – and Two Reasons why You Shouldn’t!

applebid

This year, the iPod Touch line up of devices is being added to for the first time since 2012. Despite the long gap between releases, this will be the sixth generation of the popular media device that has been released since the product’s inception in 2007. So, do you actually need the new Apple iPod touch, or can you just stick with the last generation and be happy? Apple Bid will be taking a look at the new Apple iPod touch and giving you reasons to buy, and reasons not to buy.

Here’s why you should buy…

Hardware Upgrade
There has been an impressive hardware upgrade for the latest generation. The new iPod Touch boasts Apple’s 64-bit A8 chip, and the M8 Motion coprocessor which enables users to take full advantage of sophisticated motion tracking and make good use of the Health app. There’s no GPS connectivity, but the new device weighs only 3.1 ounces, or 88 grams; significantly less than the iPhone six which weighs in at 4.55 ounces. The camera has even had an upgrade, with the latest iPod touch touting an 8 megapixel camera.

Impressive Screen Quality
Despite the smaller than average screen, the resolution remains impressive. The sixth generation iPod has been equipped with a 1,136 x 640 pixel resolution. This lends itself to being a brilliant display, allowing the camera’s high quality image to display nicely, and text to read crisply. The total resolution offers a 326 pixels per inch pixel density.

Good Start Price
Apple’s products are known for selling at notoriously high prices, however the latest generation iPod touch looks set to break that mold; in a similar way to the iPhone 5C. The starting price of the sixth generation Apple iPod touch is just $199 for the 16GB model; arguably affordable in comparison to many of the company’s other products.

… And here’s why you shouldn’t buy one

Disappointing Screen Size
The impressive screen quality seems a little wasted when you consider that designers and developers have deemed to give the device only a four inch screen. Although this lends itself to the lightweight aspect, it does seem like the good camera and relatively high resolution of the screen would be better placed on a larger device. If you’re used to the almost universally large screens on devices in 2015, this isn’t going to be the device for you.

The Battery’s not great
The 1043 mAh battery also leaves a lot to be desired; although with standard use as a music player with light web browsing it’s possible to get a whole day out of a single charge, this is nothing in comparison to the capacity of the batteries of older generations.
Given the brand tends to work towards improving their products for the most part, it would be expected that the device would have a more impressive battery than it does.

Overall, whether you should buy the latest generation iPod Touch or not entirely depends on what you’re looking for. We at Apple Bid believe the device offers a good, relatively affordable, entry point into iOS, and it functions perfectly well for its main purpose – playing media.

The Only Recent Apple Product that Steve Jobs would have loved?

Given that Apple products are largely considered to be “must have” products, how many recent releases have carved themselves out to be essentials? Except the iPhone, which is deemed by many to be a tech staple, not many. Here’s what Apple Bid, provider of great cheap iPhones and cheap iPads think of it.

buy cheap iphones

When you take into consideration that the recently released Apple Music is buggy, and the design is uncharacteristically impractical and the Apple Watch is generally deemed superfluous by even the most avid fans of Apple products, it’s not hard to imagine that late CEO Steve Jobs would have either rejected the product ideas, or kept them in development for longer to ensure they came out as perfect as other Apple products, such as the iPad and iPhone.

Is this the only recent Apple product that Steve Jobs would have liked?

Unlike the “flop” that was Apple Music, and the seemingly unnecessary Apple Watch, but equally unlike the myriad of iPhones and iPads around these days is the fairly recently released Apple Pay scheme. Apple Pay is widely regarded as one of the only recent releases to have embodied what Steve Jobs brought to Apple products perfectly; the seamless integration of exceptional software and hardware that makes life easier, and just seems to work.

Apple Pay will essentially be replacing both your credit card and your use of a wallet soon enough. Installed on both the iPhone and Apple Watch, Apple Pay makes paying for items simple and incredibly efficient.

You simply bring up your credit, or debit, card, and then hold the iPhone or Apple Watch up to the NFC terminal until you hear a confirmation notification which tells you that your payment has gone through successfully. There’s no need to even take your wallet or credit card out with you if you have Apple Pay installed, so it’s incredibly easy to see its value and convenience.

Expansion and efficiencyApple Pay is likely to bring to the brand a whole new level of trust with its customer base, and with that, even more business than they previously enjoyed. Despite the series of products that can easily be viewed as unsuccessful in comparison to the iPhone and iPad, Apple Pay is not one of them, and it’s due to expand.

Apple Pay will be expanded to support reward cards and loyalty cards, without the fuss of having to dig them out of your wallet. The service will also be introduced in the UK, being usable on the infamous London Underground.

Apple Pay truly is integrating itself into everyday life as a necessity. Teamed with the iPhone and Apple Watch, we believe this product is something Steve Jobs truly would be proud of.

If you’re one of those people that constantly forget to take their card out with them, then the new Apple Pay is definitely going to be one of the most perfect Apple products for you.

Apple’s Top 5 Products of all Time

If there’s one thing that can be said for Apple, it’s that they’re at the top of their game. With a huge range of Apple products gracing the shelves of every technology store, their now iconic iPhone to the iMac, there’s no one who hasn’t heard of Apple. But what are Apple’s top five products of all time? We all have our opinions, and as specialist sellers of cheap iPhones, cheap iPads and cheap MacBooks, we at Apple Bid have rounded up our top five for you.

1.    iPhone
There are very few people who haven’t heard of Apple’s iPhone and you’d be hard pressed to go anywhere without seeing at least one of the devices. When you consider the easy to use operating system, the increasingly ergonomic designs of Apple’s iPhone handsets, and the great business features of the iPhones, it’s no wonder they’re one of Apple’s top five products of all time. Given the huge popularity of the iPhone, it’s no surprise that people are often look for cheap iPhones from Apple Bid.

2.    iPod
The device that paved the way for Apple to become the huge consumer electronics producer that we know today was the humble iPod. Not only was this a precursor to the well-known and even better loved Apple iPhone, but the iPod really helped Apple distinguish itself and make itself known against huge computer corporation Microsoft. The iPod was undoubtedly the Apple product which put Apple on the map.

3.    Apple II
The Apple II was one of Apple’s earliest products, being the first massively successful mass-produced computer products. Although still struggling to make their mark against computer giants Microsoft at this stage, Apple was already beginning to show signs of what they would become, way back in 1977 with the release of the Apple II.

The Apple II began to establish the things that would define the Apple brand; with Apple products coming from the box ready to set up for users to start using immediately and marketing the likes of which hadn’t been seen by the world. The product was housed within attractive casing, something which has become one of Apple’s most defining traits.

4.    Macintosh
Moving on from the Apple II, Apple later developed its own series of Personal Computer (PC) products; the Macintosh. Originally released in 1984, and rebranded as simply “Mac” in 1998, the Apple Macintosh struggled to find a place in the market initially. However, in recent years the PC has experienced a surge in popularity and been reintroduced to millions of new users.

The Mac computers boast an extremely usable operating system which is one of the major selling points for many people.

5.    iMac
Originally produced in 1997, the original iMac was the Apple product that paved the way for Apple to become the essential design focused company that they are today. Bringing all the user friendliness to the market that the Mackintosh developed a reputation for, as well as a sleek, aesthetically pleasing appearance, the iMac proved incredibly popular amongst consumers at the time of release, and is still a popular product today.
